Networking Groups

I'm discouraged.  What can I do to get motivated for my job search?
The most important step to take when you are discouraged is to get out of your house and begin interacting with others.  Do not isolate yourself. Find and register for a Careers With A Purpose Workshop in your area, and consider starting one if none are scheduled yet. As a Volunteer Leader, you'll attend for free, and you'll get the benefit of additional familiarity with the course content.  Review the Careers With A Purpose Workshop material on this site, and ask your church or organization to launch a workshop to meet the needs of the congregation and community.

How can networking with others who are unemployed be helpful to my search?
Networking is the most effective way to find a new job.  Attending networking groups provides an opportunity to share your experience and skills with others who are also in the job market, and to discover job opportunities apart from online searches.  These groups are also an essential source of encouragement.
